The 2022 Pennsylvania State Competition was held in person on April 30, 2022. It was the first in-person state tournament in Pennsylvania since 2019.

This tournament was the first year in which Cumberland Valley High School qualified for nationals. It marked the first time in the C Division that a team outside of the Southeast Pennsylvania Regional had qualified for the national tournament since State College Area High School finished second in 2002, a span of 20 years. It was also the first time a team from the Central Pennsylvania Regional qualified for the national tournament since 2002, and also the first time a team from the Central Regional finished first in the state tournament since State College did so in 1997.
