The North Pocono Junior High Science Olympiad team is a Division B team affiliated with the North Pocono Middle School located in Moscow, Pennsylvania. They compete in the Northeast Pennsylvania Regional.
About
North Pocono has an active Science Olympiad Team comprised of between 25 and 40 students.
North Pocono uses an open system for its team. Anyone can join the team and each tournament's competing team is determined by the 15 people on the team who are present who will serve the team best given the scheduling, their ability, and their strengths.
The team is feeds into the North Pocono High School, which has a competitive team that has consistently been among the top competitors at the State Tournament in recent years.
History
North Pocono's Junior High team first competed in 1990. In the late 1990s, the team would stop competing, and would not return until 2012. After competing for two years, the team would go on hiatus once again.
The team was revived in 2019 after North Pocono High School had established itself as a regional power. Since being revived, North Pocono has never failed to qualify for the state tournament, and has consistently medaled in most events and had a top 10 overall ranking since 2022. The team’s best States included a 4th-place finish at the 2024 Pennsylvania State Tournament.
