Peters Township Middle School is a Division B team that competes in the Southwest regional of Pennsylvania. They are located in the town of McMurray, PA, and were one of the longest-running teams in the region. However, they have not competed since 2022.
They fed into Peters Township High School.
History
While their high school counterparts were among the first teams in Western Pennsylvania to compete in Science Olympiad, the earliest known year in which Peters Township Middle School competed was in 1996. In this year, they finished third at the Southwest regional. In 1997, they would improve upon this by finishing second, and they would then earn sixth place at the state tournament. This is Peters Township's highest-known placement at states.
Peters Township would continue to have success at the regional level through the 2000s, consistently qualifying for the state tournament. Although they did not match this success during the 2010s and early 2020s, they did qualify for the state tournament three times (2017, 2019, 2022).
