Exeter Township Senior High School is a high school located in Reading, PA. They generally compete in the Central East Pennsylvania Regional, although in 2017 they competed in the Central regional. They are fed by Exeter Township Junior High School, which also has a history of success in Science Olympiad.
History
Exeter Township has competed since at least 1990, when they placed 11th at the Eastern Regional and earned a trip to states. Starting in 1991, they competed in the Southeast regional, and though exact results are not known, they generally placed well and made regular trips to the state tournament.
In 1999, the Central East regional formed, and with a few exceptions, Exeter Township has competed there to this day. At the first regional, they placed 4th and earned a bid to states, and have qualified for states nearly 20 times since then.
Exeter Township experienced a period of great success in the late 2000s and early 2010s, peaking with their first (and so far, only) regional win in 2011. They also placed 11th three times in four years from 2008 to 2011, but could not place inside the top 10. Starting in 2012, they fell into a three-year span of not qualifying for states, but they later re-started the tradition of qualifying for states. During the 2020s, they have qualified for states four times, with a decade-best finish of 28th in 2022.
Berks County Science Olympiad
As they are located in Berks County, they have regularly competed in the Berks County Science Olympiad tournament since its inception in 1992. They have placed in the top 3 many times during their history, and have won the tournament at least five times: in 1993, 1996, 2007, 2019, and 2020. They have won the second-most championships in Berks County history, only behind Fleetwood Area High School.
