Winchester Thurston Middle School is a Division B team from Pittsburgh that competes in the Southwest regional of Pennsylvania. They have competed since 2012, and have qualified for every state tournament since 2016. They achieved their best-ever finish at the regional tournament in 2024, placing first overall.
They feed into Winchester Thurston Upper School, which began competing in 2019.
History
Winchester Thurston's B Division team improved steadily after starting in 2012. They improved their overall score at regionals in each of their first six seasons, and they first qualified for states in their fifth season (2016). Since 2016, they have never failed to qualify for the state tournament.
Since the state tournament was resumed in 2021, Winchester Thurston has placed in the top 20 every year. They achieved their best placement so far, 11th place, in both 2024 and 2025, though they are still looking for their first top-10 finish.
2022 was the first season in which Winchester Thurston attended invitationals. They attended the Eagle Invitational and Springhouse Invitational. In 2024, they began attending the nearby Pitt Invitational.
