Dallas High School is a Division C team located in Dallas, Pennsylvania. They compete in the nearby Northeast Pennsylvania Regional, have qualified for states several times in their history, despite not having attended any invitationals.
History
Dallas first competed in Science Olympiad in 1998. Though they did not initially find success, the growth of the program at Dallas Middle School eventually benefited the high school program, as they would qualify for their first-ever state tournament in 2008 after placing 7th out of 35 total teams.
Unluckily, from 2009 to 2012, they were one spot away from states every year. The closest they came was 9 points behind Greater Nanticoke Area High School in 2012. Luckily, in 2013, they finally returned to states, earning their best regionals placement to date (6th). They would proceed to qualify for states in four of the following six years, never finishing worse than 8th at regionals. This culminated in program-best finishes at both regionals (4th) and states (24th) in 2019.
Dallas' momentum was interrupted by the COVID cancellation in 2020. In 2021, they finished 16th at regionals, not qualifying for states. However, for the next three years, they earned their first three-year streak of qualifying for states in school history, including an all-time best season in 2023 when they placed 3rd at regionals, and 18th at the 2023 Pennsylvania State Tournament. This was Dallas's first top-3 regionals finish and top-20 state finish.
