The Virginia Tech Regional is a Division B and Division C regional hosted by the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia. In 2019 when Virginia felt it had too many Division C teams to fit into its normal three regional tournaments, but not quite enough teams to establish a full fourth, it turned to the organizers of the Virginia Tech Invitational to create a combination invitational-regional tournament. Teams from both inside and outside Virginia competed against each other, but only the in-state schools were eligible to qualify for the 2019 Virginia State Tournament. In 2020 the invitational component of the tournament was removed and Division B was added.
Virginia Tech provided the vast majority of volunteers for the virtual components of the 2021, 2022, and 2023 Virginia regional tournaments before returning to hosting an in-person Division C regional in 2024. In 2025, Division B was added.
