Regions of Virginia

Virginia regional tournaments are held at a variety of locations which vary year to year. Starting in 2009, two regionals were held each season. Prior to that year, only a single state-level tournament was held in Virginia each season. Since the vast majority of teams are located in Fairfax and Loudoun counties, and since VASO has a centralized structure where all regionals are run by the state organization, VASO allows schools to self-select into regionals. This ultimately means that there are no geographic regions, making the term "regional" somewhat of a misnomer in the state.
