Peters Township High School is a Division C team that competes in the Southwest Pennsylvania Regional. They are fed by Peters Township Middle School.
History
Peters Township has competed in Science Olympiad for many years, dating back to the very first Western Regional held in 1987. They finished eighth and qualified for the state tournament. Their best known placement at the state tournament occurred in 1989, which was also an eighth-place finish.
Start of the Southwest Regional
After the Southwest regional formed in 1995, Peters Township quickly experienced success. They finished in second place in both 1996 and 1997, and then qualified for the state tournament every year from 2000 to 2003. While their results in 1998 and 1999 are not known, it seems likely that either 2004 or 2005 was the first year that Peters Township failed to qualify for states out of the Southwest regional.
Recent History
Though Peters Township experienced a downturn in the 2010s, only qualifying for states thrice and never finishing higher than 34th, they maintained a spot in the top 10 of the Southwest regional. Now, in the 2020s, they have managed to qualify for states three times in five years. Additionally, both misses were by narrow margins, losing to Plum Senior High School by six points in 2022 and losing to Quaker Valley High School by a tiebreaker.
