Format

For the first time ever, the Wisconsin State Tournament included a Small School and Large School classification. This was used only to award medals and trophies at the awards ceremony. For each event, all schools from both the Small and Large groups were scored together, as if the split did not exist. Then, at the awards ceremony, medals were awarded to the four large schools with the best placements in each event and to the four small schools with the best placements in that event. Overall team scores were calculated using placements among the combined grouping of all teams. Overall team recognition was given to the top overall schools from the combined division, as well as the best-finishing Small School teams. This initiative was started at the request of Boyceville High School, a team well-known for their national competitiveness in build events despite their extremely small enrollment.

Results

Division B

Hamilton Middle School won their 15th straight state championship by 103 points, in the process tying their 2012 win for the largest margin of victory in either division at a Wisconsin State Tournament. Counting all 23 Nationals events, the team captured 13 gold medals, four silver, four bronze, and a pair of fourth-place finishes. Boyceville Middle School repeated as runners-up, edging out Eagle School of Madison, who returned to the top three for the first time since 2013.

Division C

Marquette University High School and Madison West High School once again finished first and second respectively in dominant fashion. In the 19 events in which both schools competed, they took the top two places in 15 of them. Marquette took home 13 gold medals, seven silver, two bronze, and a fifth-place finish, while West took nine gold, 10 silver, and four bronze. The head-to-head victory propelled Marquette to a sixth consecutive state title and a bid to the University of Nebraska 2025 National Tournament.

Menomonie High School and Hudson High School had convincing third- and fourth-place finishes respectively, with each having a gap of over 35 points between themselves and the next-place team. Each school accomplished this with remarkable consistency, with Menomonie dipping below the top 15 in only one event and Hudson in only two. Incredibly, Hudson managed to attain their placement while not finishing in the top three in any individual event, instead using 11 fourth- to sixth-place finishes to round out a very balanced finish. In the end, Wisconsin mainstay Menomonie earned their 18th top-three finish in their last 19 State Tournaments. Hudson brought home their second top-four finish in just their seventh year of existence, showing one of the quickest rises of any team in the country.

The race for fifth and sixth places was close between the consistently top-finishing Slinger High School and Medford High School. The margin was only four points, with Slinger edging out Medford for their fourth consecutive top-five finish. Slinger earned seven top-six finishes, including a win in Wisconsin-only Horticulture. While Medford did not win any events, they did earn 11 top-six finishes, led by three bronze medals. Medford's return to the top six marks their best finish in a State tournament since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The remainder of the top ten teams were closely bunched together, with the margin between seventh and tenth place being only eight points. Madison LaFollette High School had a triumphant return to the top ten in only their second year of competition post-COVID. Their seventh place finish was their best at a State Tournament since 2008 and included a win in Forestry. Wisconsin blue-blood Boyceville High School finished eighth, ending their streak of 15 consecutive top-six finishes. They were, however, characteristically strong in the build events, finishing third overall in combined build score behind only Marquette and West. Boyceville did also claim the trophy for best-finishing Small School in the tournament, the only Small School to finish in the top ten. The ninth-place team was another revived Madison-area club, with Middleton High School not only meeting their pre-COVID States results, but far exceeding them by capturing their first-ever top-20 finish. Middleton was initially placed at 11th, but after a correction to their audits, they were replaced, moving Waunakee out from the top 10. Rounding out the top ten in an unsurprising finish was Brookfield Central High School, capturing six medals on their way to their tenth top-12 finish in their last 14 State Tournaments. Another notable recently-reestablished team was Waunakee, which managed to place 11th in its second year despite being weakened compared to regionals.
