American High School is a Division C team located in Fremont, California, competing in the Bay Area Region. They have competed for a total of 14 years since 2012. American has a long-standing "rivalry" with East Bay schools like Mission San Jose and, more recently, Castro Valley. Today, American High School has risen to a respectable position among the best teams of Northern California, consistently making states and placing in the top 10.
AHS's team names are Blue, Red, and White, after their school's colors and the American Flag.

In 2020, AHS SciOly went to their first BEARSO Invitational and placed 11th overall (879).
UT Invitational
In 2020, AHS SciOly went to their first University of Texas at Austin Invitational and placed 7th overall (287) with medals (top 10) in Designer Genes (6), Disease Detectives (2), Protein Modeling (8), Sounds of Music (2), and Water Quality (5).
Yosemite Invitational
In 2020, AHS SciOly went to attended their first Yosemite Invitational and placed 1st overall (183) with medals (top 6) in Cybersecurity (4), Designer Genes (5), Detector Building (1), Digital Structures (5), Disease Detectives (2), Fossils (1), Gravity Vehicle Design (6), Machines (3), Protein Modeling (3), and Sounds of Music (3).
Yale Invitational
In 2021, AHS SciOly also attended their first Yale Invitational and placed 8th overall (288) with medals (top 5) in Disease Detectives (1), Sounds of Music (1), and Write It CAD It (3).

On December 9th, 2023, AHS SciOly attended their first invitational of the year, GullSO, placing 11th overall (363) with medals in Astronomy (4th), Chemistry Lab (4th), Codebusters (4th), Forestry (5th), Wind Power (3rd), and WIDI (5th). AHS Red team additionally medaled in Optics (5th)
Mira Loma
On January 13th, 2024, AHS SciOly attended their second Mira Loma Invitational, placing 8th overall (234) with medals in Air Trajectory (1st), Detector Building (3rd), Fossils (4th), Robot Tour (2nd), and Wind Power (4th).
Stanford
On January 20th, 2024, AHS SciOly attended their first Stanford Invitational. AHS Red placed 15th overall (350) with medals in Ecology (4th) and Fossils (2nd). AHS Blue placed 18th overall (386) with medals in Forestry (3rd) and Optics (3rd).
Aggie
On January 27th, 2024, AHS SciOly attended their first Aggie Invitational, placing 8th overall (376) with medals in Anatomy and Physiology (2nd), Forestry (3rd), Fossils (3rd), and Microbe Mission (5th). AHS Red additionally medaled in Fossils (2nd) and WIDI (2nd).
BARSO
On February 3rd, 2024, AHS SciOly attended their thirteenth Bay Area Regional, placing 4th overall (161) with medals in Air Trajectoyr (6th), Anatomy and Physiology (1st), Astronomy (5th), Chemistry Lab (3rd), Disease Detectives (4th), Experimental Design (2nd), Forensics (5th), Forestry (6th), Geologic Mapping (5th), Optics (4th), Robot Tour (3rd), Tower (2nd), and Wind Power (1st). AHS Red additionally medaled in Dynamic Planet (4th).
NorCal States
On April 6th, 2024, AHS SciOly attended their seventh NorCal State Tournament, placing 8th overall (217) with medals (top 5) in Anatomy and Physiology (3rd), Fermi Questions (5th), Fossils (5th), Robot Tour (5th), and Tower (5th).

Rickards
From November 2nd to November 9th, 2024, AHS SciOly attended their first Rickards Invitational (their first online tournament in about 2.5 years), and medaled (top 20) in Wind Power (4th), Fermi Questions (trial, 5th), and Tower (trial, 8th).
GullSO
On December 14th, 2024, AHS SciOly attended their first in-person invitational of the year, GullSO, placing 11th overall (338), with medals in Anatomy and Physiology (2nd), Bungee Drop (3rd), Materials Science (4th), Microbe Mission (4th), and Wind Power (2nd). AHS Red additionally medaled in Entomology (2nd) and Fossils (2nd).
Stanford
On February 1st, 2025, AHS SciOly attended their second Stanford Invitational, placing 5th overall (187), with medals in Anatomy and Physiology (6th), Astronomy (3rd), Codebusters (7th), Disease Detectives (2nd), Dynamic Planet (6th), Fossils (1st), Geologic Mapping (2nd), Helicopter (4th), Optics (3rd), and Tower (2nd). They tied with Mission San Jose High School, who placed 4th due to a higher gold medal count.
ARSO
On February 8th, 2025, AHS SciOly attended their fourteenth Bay Area Regional, placing 2nd overall (127) with medals in Air Trajectory (1st), Anatomy and Physiology (2nd), Astronomy (4th), Bungee Drop (2nd), Dynamic Planet (3rd), Electric Vehicle (4th), Entomology (1st), Experimental Design (2nd), Forensics (4th), Fossils (2nd), Geologic Mapping (2nd), Helicopter (2nd), Microbe Mission (6th), Optics (6th), Tower (3rd), Wind Power (1st), and Write It Do It (6th). Additionally, AHS Red medalled in Fossils (1st), Robot Tour (5th), and Write It Do It (4th) along with AHS White medalling in Electric Vehicle (6th).
