In recent years, Castro Valley has been slowly improving, gaining ground on top powerhouse schools in the region. In the 2023 season, Castro Valley pulled off some incredible performances, placing 3rd at the prestigious Golden Gate Invitational, then surprising everyone with a win at both Regionals and States, making it to the National Tournament for the first time. Castro Valley excelled once again in 2024, reaching States, but relinquished the state crown to Monta Vista. In 2025, the NorCal State tournament top 3 was a replay of 2024, and Castro Valley finished 2nd again, edging out Mountain View by 1 point.
Prior to 2020, teams were usually named White, Gold, and Green after the school colors.
