Pleasant Bridges is the combined partnership/hypothetical ‘superschool’ of former rivals and regional champions Pleasantville Middle School and Seven Bridges Middle School (Division B). Both PMS and 7B are only one town away from each other (the two schools are literally only 5 miles away from each other and they share a county), and are main competitors in their region. The idea of Pleasant Bridges was conceived during the 2025 New York State Division B tournament awards ceremony, when the 3rd place team was about to be called. During this intense moment, both rival teams turned to each other (the teams were sitting in rows and PMS was in front of 7B) and began cheering each other on, promising to defeat the 'other competitive school' if they made it to nationals (which did not happen).
Third place was eventually called, and it was declared that 7B would compete at nationals (beating Pleasantville by 8 points), but a new partnership was formed on that fateful night, that serves as a reminder to all Science Olympians that anything is possible, and that even the most intense rivals can become friends. Some have even described the moment as being “similar to the fall of the Berlin Wall”. The schools' partnership remains as one of the most legendary moments in New York State Science Olympiad Division B history.
The Pleasant Bridges anthem is 'Race for the Prize' by The Flaming Lips, due to the song’s lyrics reminding team members of the intense ‘race’ that was the 2024-25 season.
