How do people usually attach CD wheels? Is there a way to attach it so there is an axle?

i believe we've had this discussion many times before.. but anyways you put washers on each side of your cd's then you put a nut around each washer and tighten them,

also, what if i'm doing more than one building event and i need some of the stuff from my tool kit in wright stuff and in scrambler? ex. superglue, knife, etc.

I think you should just buy doubles just to be safe. You never know how lenient the event supervisor will be.

Pitsco actually sells insert for CDs to fit a standard axle. Bushings, too.

I found some rules and looked up the impound issue. You are correct that it is not clearly stated that tools must be impounded, but there is enough there that I don't think you would win on appeal if the judge wouldn't let you bring them in later. See rule 4b no outside assistance, materials (I know, this says "to compete," not "to impound," but a nasty judge might see it differently); also could be said to be implied in 4c "retrieve all impounded items." If you really need those tools elsewhere, I would contact the tournament organizers in advance.

Why doesn't your car go at least 12m? it should be able to go 12m easily.
I think by number score he means how close you have been getting. I'm getting about 30cm most of the time(still working on it, i'm testing to see exactly how many winds i should put on the wheel for each distance)

The score is calculated like this:
2 * Run Time (in sec.) + Stopping Distance (in cm.)
Also, why would it matter how far you can go? You want to get it as close as possible to the wall. And if you can't reach 10 meters, then there's a problem somewhere.

It probably means that you have too much friction in the baring and other places. And/or, your car is too heavy.
Science Olympiad is a tribute to Murphey's Law. This has been proven experimentally.
And no, I'm not a guy...even though my sig says will robsinson. It's a reference to Lost in Space, an ancient sci fi TV show. And the robot is the character who always says the line.
