Re: Scrambler
The rod itself has some mass, so you lose some total energy, and also most push-rod designs the angle of the force applied by the rod changes significantly during the drop. I saw one last year that accelerated so quickly that the egg broke under its own inertia, but a lot of that acceleration was upward - the car did a big wheelie coming out of the gate, wasting a whole lot of energy.

Re: Scrambler
depends really on how you use the mass. You can get fast speeds with spring and pulley launchers, but can also get high speeds with hammer launchers. It all depends on the kind of launcher you have.robotman09 wrote:is the best way to launch it having the falling mass pull it?

Re: Scrambler
i'm not sure where this belongs but i was wondering if you're suppose to impound your "tool kit" and extra parts, because at my regional competition i impounded my extra parts (cd wheels, weights, etc.) but i didn't impound my "tool kit" the judge looked at me like i did something wrong and it took me a minute to convince him. was i suppose to impound my "tool kit"?

Part 4.a. of the rules says "The entire scrambler system must be impounded before the start of the event and will be released from impound when the team has finished competing..."bob3443 wrote:i'm not sure where this belongs but i was wondering if you're suppose to impound your "tool kit" and extra parts, because at my regional competition i impounded my extra parts (cd wheels, weights, etc.) but i didn't impound my "tool kit" the judge looked at me like i did something wrong and it took me a minute to convince him. was i suppose to impound my "tool kit"?
It doesn't say anything about impounding the tool kit. However, just to be safe, either impound it anyway or ask the event supervisor for a clarification.

Re: Scrambler
I don't have the B rules on me, but historically in most events if it isn't impounded, you can't use it. I'm pretty sure that was the case in Scrambler last year, anyway.croman74 wrote:Part 4.a. of the rules says "The entire scrambler system must be impounded before the start of the event and will be released from impound when the team has finished competing..."bob3443 wrote:i'm not sure where this belongs but i was wondering if you're suppose to impound your "tool kit" and extra parts, because at my regional competition i impounded my extra parts (cd wheels, weights, etc.) but i didn't impound my "tool kit" the judge looked at me like i did something wrong and it took me a minute to convince him. was i suppose to impound my "tool kit"?

Re: Scrambler
I think in the rules last year it said impound all your materials, but it doesn't say anything this year. But still, better safe than sorry.Flavorflav wrote:I don't have the B rules on me, but historically in most events if it isn't impounded, you can't use it. Re: Scrambler
I agree too. Last year, I impounded my "tool kit" and I was allowed to use it. If I hadn't impounded it I don't think I would have been allowed to use it.
