Wouldn't your scrambler be using electronics then?

A rifle scope is something that somebody mounts to the top of a rifle to aim that has crosshairs. Also, you can buy really expensive ones, but they can also be like 9 bucks. (Mine is) If you have an army surplus place near your house, you can get one there. If not, Ebay is your friend.

Scrambler #2

Post by Friedoyster3 »

Ok everone, i'd like to know. How many people have been having the problem of the falling weight (1.5 kg) not being enough to move the scrambler the full 12m?
If you are having this problem please help me and everyone else what are your solutions.

There is more than enough energy, so your problem must be either energy transfer or friction. It sounds like the car starts moving okay, but slows down on the trip. This indicates it is a friction problem. You have to locate and reduce the source of the friction, which is usually between the chassis and the axles. To help more, I would need to know more about your design.

I'm not on the Scrambler event (I'm in C) but every one wants the scrambler to go strait you really don’t have to if you have some sight (rifle scope may be a little too much for a scrambler you could but even a small thin hallow rod works good as a scope) on the vehicle and aim with a target (then compensate of how much your scrambler is off this is a good way to get the scrambler to end in the center) every one try’s to get it to go strait but if you just know how your scrambler travels each time you should be able to get it to end up in the center most of the time (depends on your mode of launch)
I did the scrambler event 2 years ago and found that our scrambler always fallowed the same path and ends in the same spot so I believe that if your scramblers all end up in the same place then what I have said should work for any one that uses a pulley launcher or pushrod.

i asked soinc and they said you couldn't use a brake spring-pad braking system, this was what they said
It is exactly as stated "devices must be in their lowest energy state prior
to initiating the run." That goes for everything including the stopping
system.
edit: this was the original message because some of you asked me

ORIGINAL MESSAGE:
http://scioly.org/phpBB3/posting.php?mo ... 16&p=22708
It says under 2.C. that "Energy from the falling mass may be transferred to
other energy storage devices, but those devices must be in their lowest
energy state prior to initiating the run. Additional sources of mechanical
energy may be used to top the device..." Does this mean that if I use an
additional source of mechanical energy to stop the device, the additional
source of mechanical energy must be in its lowest energy state prior to
initiating the run? Or can it be in any energy state prior to initiating the
run?

i can forward you the original message if you want, also this was from soinc.org as one of the "FAQ's" they responded using email, but they didn't post it on the website.

Yeah I just figured out that the weights is had were about 200 grams under-weight. But even afer adding more weights it still only gose about 12m.
Anyway what sort of lubricant should i use to reduce friction on the axels?
