West Windsor-Plainsboro Community Middle School is a Division B school which has qualified for the National Tournament at the New Jersey state competition since 2002. Community Middle School, also known as CMS, is considered a Science Olympiad Power House. 2019 marked their eighteenth straight state title, dating back to 2002.
West Windsor-Plainsboro Community Middle School attends the Union County College (UCC) regionals every year, also consistently placing 1st. 2020 marked their seventeenth straight title. Community Middle School has also been home to two national champions, which were in 2005 and 2007. They also placed second in 2004 and third in 2009, 2018, and 2019. Their 18-year streak of winning states was finally broken by counterpart school Thomas R. Grover Middle School in 2020.

Schools in the West Windsor-Plainsboro School District consist of WW-P High School North, its division C feeder school. Its school counterpart is Thomas R. Grover Middle School, which feeds into WW-P High School South. Although usually placing below Community, with numerous 2nd places in 2011, 2016, 2017, and 2019, they won their first state championship in 2020.
Team Structure
Like many other teams, Community does not have a "class" for Science Olympiad. They meet twice a week, often for 1 or 2 hours.
Tryouts are written commonly by the freshmen on the team or experienced 8th graders and are commonly topic-based, rather than event-based. They select 36 members for the team (NJ allows 18), and often takes both an A and B team to invitationals and previously to regionals. However, as of the 2019 season, NJ discontinued the A/B team rule, and now only allows one 18 member team to participate at regionals due to limited space.
Accomplishments and Achievements
Since the 2016-2017 season, they started attending Pennsylvania and New York invitationals, placing 2nd in Rustin Invitational, and placing 1st in Little Tiger New Tripoli Invitational.
In 2017-2018, they placed 1st at the Rustin Invitational, beating Springhouse, 2nd in Garnet Valley Invitational, and 1st in Little Tiger New Tripoli Invitational. They concluded their year placing 3rd at the National Tournament with their historic score of 230.
In the 2018-2019 season, CMS placed 1st at every invitational they went to (LISO, Rustin, Garnet Valley, and Cornell). They won first in their regional and state competition, as well as another 3rd at the 2019 National Tournament.
In the 2019-2020 season, CMS did not participate in any invitationals.

The school has 2 national championships: 2005 and 2007. They have placed 2nd one time, and 3rd three times, most recently in 2018 and 2019.
