Hey! I'm Klastyioer, but many know me by my first name, Katie. I'm currently a senior at Harriton High School, located in South-Eastern Pennsylvania (northern section). I started Science Olympiad in my 7th grade year at Welsh Valley Middle School. Usually, I do balsa builds, but sometimes I participate in other build events.

About Me
Not a lot of people include their life outside of SciOly on here, so I thought it would be a good idea to say some stuff about me as a person. When i'm not doing school work or SciOly, I love to cook/bake. It's always been an exciting process for me to see how you can take such minimal things and turn it into a masterpiece. Though I haven't really had the time to since high school started, I also enjoy reading. Something about the cool air brushing over my face and the fear of falling over or not landing a jump keep me wanting more. I just recently started working at a rock climbing gym as well, so I've been trying to get into the climbing community the last year or so. I've competed in local competitions for climbing ever since I started treating climbing as a sport- much like a commitment I work towards for satisfaction I feel.
As for educational pursuits, I plan to be a pilot! Isn't that so shocking?? My intended major is Aeronautical Science with a track towards being an ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) at Embry Riddle Aeronuatical University in Daytona Beach, FL. I got into the school fairly early in October and committed shortly after (wooo! erau '26). If I am unable to fly, I plan on going into Homeland Security or Environmental Sciences. Science Olympiad has opened me up mostly to the world of aeronautics. I've been fascinated by aircrafts, works of propellors and the forces of flight all because of Wright Stuff. It's been one of my biggest inspirations yet. Being able to continue my passions in the near future because of clubs I've been involved in or experiences that I've had means the world to me. Being a woman, person of color, and a member of the LGBT+ community puts me into a dangerous spot in this world. However, pushing to become something more than what people expect me to be is what gets me through it all. Hopefully by reading this, you'll feel the same way too.
Hopefully I am able to continue my passion for Science Olympiad in college and beyond. As far as I am aware, my college is the regional host for competitions. Maybe you'll see me coach Boca Raton someday...maybe I'll work for Southwest and be based back at home to coach Harriton WHO KNOWS! I can't wait to see what the future holds :)).
If you also plan on going into my fields or if you're considering to my school (very good for Aeronautical Engineering by the way), feel free to hit me up!
