Smithtown High School East is a Division C school which participates in New York's Eastern Long Island regional competition. They experienced a period of great success from 1996 to 2007, as they made states in all but one of those years. However, they have not returned to states since, and their period of glory seems to be over. They performed respectably at regionals in 2012, placing 12th overall and 7th out of A teams. However, since only 6 A teams were eligible to move on, they fell short by 46 points to West Babylon High School.
