General Info About Shloke:
Hi there y'all, It's great to back for the 2023 scioly season. This is my second year doing scioly as an 8th grader for the SVMS Scioly team this year! I pretty much do any build event so hit me up on discord if you ever have a question are wanna discuss something (bob_th3_build3r). Overall, I'm just here to have a great time and get those sweet, sweet, goal medals. If u ever see me out in public or at a tournament, feel free to drop in and say Hi.
My Name(s):
My real name is (surprise) Shlok Singh. However, many (*cough* Mr. Evola) refer to me as "Shloke". Other names include: "Inches", and most recently, "Shlob"(Thanks OC Scrimmage)
Other Interests/Hobbies:
Besides doing Scioly, I really enjoy just going out and getting Boba with friends. I also like doing archery early in the mornings and building PC's in my spare time.

My Events (21-22):
Bridges
Personally, I was never able really to understand bridges as a whole. The concept of light objects was completely illusive to me at the time and I really didn't care about the event.
Digital Structures
Pretty much the same thing to me as bridges.
Experimental Design
The event I despise most.
Mousetrap Vehicle
One of my favorite events by far. I was able to create a large variety of cars, all of which performed well. My only regret is not putting more time into the event.
Write It Do It
Mainly as a filler for this event. It wasn't great but I had fun.
2022 Season Reflection:
My main takeaway from this season was that I got a good taste of what scioly life was like. I meet a lot of smart and funny people who I still keep in contact with them this day. However, due to my lack of goal-setting and incompetence, I was just another kid in the sea of hundreds of Science Olympiad Kids. I was under the illusion that things will just happen to me and I will move up. It was late in the season I realized, I was a nobody and there was nothing I could do about it since states were already over and I couldn't make it on the Black team. However, Nat's win rekindled a spark in me to continue the legacy that those before me left behind. So I made it my goal to do the best I can and try to succeed in the upcoming seasons and see how that goes!

*Trial Events
*1: Proctors didn't grade scores correctly
*2: Opted out of the event (Second place in spirit) ;_;
*3 The intake vent for the heater sucked our plane in ;_;
*4 There was an issue with the bridge tester which caused our bridge to fail ;_;
*5 Was unable to compete due to certain event spilling over the time block
My Events (22-23):
Bridges
I am mostly a filler for the event as I mostly stabilize, but I have seen some pretty amazing stuff in the event so far. A tier event
Flight
I am mostly a filler for the event but it is pretty fun to watch stuff fly. A tier event
Roller Coaster
I didn't expect to do this event at the beginning of the year but its been a whole lot of fun. My favorite part is how balanced yet chaotic things can be in this event, especially with the rules being very open to interpretation. S tier event
Storm the Castle
All I'm gonna say is if you like yeeting things across an entire gym, then this is the best event for you (make sure you don't hit anybody in the head tho). A tier event
Wheeled Vehicle
My favorite event (like all vehicle events) this year. Seeing those on dot runs after hours of hard work is fun, Chef's kiss, SS tier event (baised review)
Rotor Egg Drop
Have only done it at UTA (ATX) invite but it was a lot of fun. Not a lot to do tho. Solid B-tier event
2023 Season Reflection:
It has been quite the year! While writing this, I look back on my 7th-grade reflection and come to terms with how much I have truly grown. I was able to achieve all my goals and so much more this session. From all the travel competitions to the people I met, it was truly the adventure of a lifetime. As cringe as it may sound, it wasn't about the destination, but the journey that got me here that I will remember. I want to give a huge thanks to my coaches, partners, and mentors who helped guide me along the way. That being said, I got (hopefully) 4 more years of Scioly to go. I will continue my journey as a freshman at Troy. I wish myself and everyone the best of luck for the future and thanks for making this a session I will never forget!
