He was under SVMS's Div A program in the 2020-2021 season, has competed for SVMS in the 2021-2022 season, and is currently in SVMS's JV team for the 2022-2023 season. He really enjoys Science Olympiad even though at times he has no idea what he's getting into :) He also kinda sucks ngl

2020-2021 (6th grade)
Kestrelfan joined Division A and had no idea what he was getting into. But this only was because of COVID-19, and for some reason, Kestrelfan is still thankful for COVID to this day. Kestrelfan had competed in a multitude of events- 6, to be precise, and due to this experience, has always, for some reason, loved to have as many events as possible. These events were: A is for Anatomy, Barge Building, Chopper Challenge, Deep Blue Sea, Disease Detectives, and Experimental Design. Kestrelfan had a relatively successful Division A season, medaling 2nd at SoCal States in A is for Anatomy and Disease Detectives, and 1st in Experimental Design and Deep Blue Sea (We don't talk about his builds). He kept three of them as he went into the Div B season, Anatomy and Physiology, Disease Detectives, and Experimental Design.
2021-2022 (7th grade)
Kestrelfan had a relatively successful season, despite the fact that he actually did not attend SVMS (now he does, though). He was first in his strand at tryouts, but then kind of slacked off and got 13th in Anatomy (to this day he still kind of hates Anatomy), 2nd in Disease, 1st in Ornithology, and 7th in EXPD (not counting the other schools and 9th graders at SVMS Scrimmage) to end up on SVMS JV to go to UTA... but his parents wouldn't let him go (because CoViD, duh). So basically Kestrelfan got demoted to the 5th team despite consistently medaling and beating the other teams quite a few times. He's still salty about it to this day, but it turned out okay because his partner was amazing.
2022-2023 (8th grade)
WIP! Still in JV though... :P
But his season has been pretty successful so far, and he FINALLY got to go to UTA!

2020-2021 (6th grade)
As mentioned above, Kestrelfan got 1st in Deep Blue Sea, 1st in Experimental Design, 2nd in A is for Anatomy, 2nd for Disease Detectives, and does not talk about chopper challenge and barge building to this day. These two events are what possibly caused his school 2nd overall in states instead of 1st.

Event Rankings
Note: This is not meant to slander or put down any event, they're all pretty cool. This is just written in Kestrelfan's opinion from favorite to least favorite.
Ornithology
Kestrelfan dearly misses Ornithology- why did it have to be replaced with Forestry!? This was his most successful event in his 2021-2022 season, and his favorite by far. This is mostly because he finds all of the birds cute; as they are! He also inherited his very apparent love of kestrels from this event. If Ornithology only would come back :(

Experimental Design
Experimental Design is an amazing really poggers event, as Kestrelfan loves writing a lot (but detests writing with a pencil. typing>>>). He can do basically all the parts quite well (except for Hypothesis, CER, Qualitative Data, and Conclusion) but is pretty darn good at Procedures and Set-up Diagrams, Variables, Experimental Errors, and Recommendations for Further Experimentation. So far this year, all of his partners are amezin and really kewl :>
Disease Detectives
Disease Detectives is arguably the best event, although Kestrelfan does enjoy Ornithology and EXPD a tiny little bit more. Disease is amazing overall, and it's really enjoyable to do calculations such as Odds Ratio and Relative Risk (and showing work!!) He also loves writing disease scenarios because he can write the word "diarrhea" multiple times /j But overall, he just really loves Disease Detectives.
Bio-Process Lab
Kestrelfan now really really really enjoys BPL, even though he isn't particularly good at it (probably his worst overall event). He loves ecology, heredity, and food labels :D Some parts like cell bio are also really painful in his opinion. As his season progresses, he hopes that he can get a little bit cracked at Bio Process Lab. But its kewl :>>>

Codebusters
Kestrelfan likes codebusters, but has not competed in it yet due to the fact that it conflicts with Disease Detectives. Aristocrats are super fun!!
Anatomy and Physiology
Last year's anatomy was 100% pain. Kestrelfan completely sucked at Nervous, Endocrine, and Sensory Organs (that doesnt even classify as a system does it??) But this year, Kestrelfan is much better at Anatomy but still relatively bad. He gets carried by his partner every time, this is why he actually gets medals in anatomy. Kestrelfan is mid at Digestive, and a bit lower than average at Respiratory. He just really stinks at Immune, but wants to study more but also doesnt want to at the same time.
Fast Facts
Kestrelfan actually kind of likes fast facts, but dislikes memorizing lists. He has really bad memory and his brain is already too full of stuff from other events. He currently has 0.001 braincell *cough* i mean NeUrOn. He honestly likes diseases, constellations, and moons :)
Storm the Castle
Kestrelfan has had a bad experience with Storm the Castle, upon building one, it literally did not work. He wasted a lot of money on storm and will not touch storm again unless it is to help someone test or something. But watching storm launch is fun :)
