From Wiki - Scioly.org

IwentSupernova is a current senior (Division C) at Lynbrook High School in California! He has been participating in Science Olympiad since 7th grade, when he competed for Hyde Middle School (can now say I am proud to be from Hyde after they got 5th at 2024 states lol). He has done a variety of events in Earth & Space Science, Physics, Engineering, and Inquiry, but has always done Astronomy (favorite event)! His middle school career was uneventful as his team rarely did well and regionals was canceled due to COVID :(. IwentSupernova got a lot more serious during high school but still did not do great freshman and sophomore years, thus the very low medal count. He also writes tests mostly for earth/space science and physics events. This page is a work in progress, so the formatting and color coding is kinda bad, but hopefully will be fixed over the summer.

Events

7th grade: Dynamic Planet (glaciers), Heredity (I regret doing a bio event), Roller Coaster

8th grade: Meteorology, Mission Possible, Reach for the Stars, Road Scholar

9th grade: Astronomy, Codebusters, Dynamic Planet (freshwater)

10th grade: Astronomy, Dynamic Planet (freshwater), Remote Sensing, WIDI

11th grade: Astronomy, Bridge, Remote Sensing, Experimental Design

12th grade: Astronomy, Detector Building, Experimental Design, Tower

Favorite Events Ranked!

I've enjoyed most of the events I've done, so it was hard to make a ranking, but here they are ranked (Note: this is not a ranking of the best events, but rather the ones I enjoyed doing):

Events I enjoyed!

Astronomy

Reach for the Stars

Remote Sensing

Road Scholar

Experimental Design

Detector Building (23-24 rotation, yes I actually enjoyed it a bit no matter how scuffed it was)

Meteorology

Dynamic Planet (freshwater)

Codebusters

Dynamic Planet (glaciers)

Bridge

Events that I did not enjoy :(

Roller Coaster

Mission Possible

WIDI

Test Writing/Supervising

He has only written a few tests so far, but hopes to write a lot more in the future!

Tournament Placements

I never did well until I got into 11th grade, so please do not judge the terrible placements.

9th grade: C Team

Not a great start to high school scioly unfortunately, but did medal in codebusters and was close to medaling for dynamic planet. Astronomy was very unfortunate though and I am still very sad about it. Very sad of a year since I only went to 1 tournament but still better than middle school. Really do not remember anything since it was online and I barely knew my partners.

Event Regionals
Astronomy 11th
Codebusters 5th
Dynamic Planet 7th
Team 8th

10th grade: B Team

This year, I actually knew who I was working with since it was satellite! I was decently happy with how regionals went. There's not really much to say here since nothing special really happened.

11th grade: A Team

Had a pretty good season except for bridge. Popped off at regionals and states when it mattered and our team got our highest placement ever at states!!! A bit sad about how astro ended this season but to be fair, the test was 50 mcq and too easy. I loved this season since I started to get to know a lot more people and interacted with people outside of Lynbrook. I loved every part of this season and just had fun which is what Science Olympiad is all about!

Very sad this was my last year competing. Nobody on my team except for one person wanted to do detector building so here I was doing it. In the end, I definitely enjoyed doing detector but that was probably because I made too much fun of the event. My partner also made it pretty enjoyable. It was pretty stressful being president especially because this year was our school's weakest senior class in ~10 years (after having one of the strongest the year before) which made it difficult to keep up placements like last year. The beginning of the year, it was difficult to do well which is why our team placements were very shaky. But in the end, we were able to clutch up and made it to states and actually did well at states. However, I'm extremely salty about tower because we got 3,166 at states and that put us at 7th. NorCal is insane. Happy to have ended the season with a good placement in most of my events and proud of my team. For some reason, I popped off again at regionals and states. Well this was the end of my scioly competition career, but hopefully you should see me running tournaments and events in the future!
