Edwin first joined his school's Science Olympiad team in the 2022-23 season as a sophomore, where he decided to try it out for fun. Being the zesty (goated) guy he is, Edwin made the C (A) team in his first ever season and has been a dedicated member of LASA SciO ever since!

2022-23

Hi, I am a pro at disease detecting. I go to LASA high school, the #1 scio school in the nation!!!! I am the goat at scrambler and I love the constant and its massive proportions. My favorite restaurant is buffet palace because I can eat as much as I want too!! I also really like my coach and think he is very cool. 2023 was my first year doing scio every and I am sure to do better!!!! Nats here we come!!!

2024-25

This season was special. It was easily the best we've had in a long time, and I'm incredibly grateful to have been a part of it. And even though I didn’t perform as well as I should've at nats, I’m still proud of what I accomplished. From medaling in a study event at MIT (for once) to making nationals for the first time in four years, I made memories that I once thought would never be possible.

Looking back, there were a lot of moments this season where I felt very frustrated. I was frustrated with myself for performing poorly, teammates for slacking, or simply having to wake up at 5:00 AM to catch a flight yet again. I will never forgive Lhush and Henry for forcing me to pick up geomapping three weeks before nats because they were so stinky at it.

But I always believed that we would make nationals (except maybe after zestard and mr. bhat's wind power & optics performance at state...). There was never a shred of doubt in me that our team wasn't as smart or as talented as other top teams. Whether or not we were as hardworking as them is a different story. But in all seriousness, we had a group of very special people this year.

There are a lot of people I want to thank. First of all, thank you to the Class of 2025 for being the backbone of our team for a very long time and being some of my closest friends. Thank you to the sophomore boys for always managing to be late and making me laugh. Thank you to everyone (except a certain someone) that I've ever competed in an event with. Thank you to Dr. Chin for believing in us and giving me good advice. Thank you to Ms. Cong for stepping up and making sure we had a club in the first place this season. Thank you to Jordan and 7L for being good competition and providing me with motivation. Thank you to the two girls on our team for putting up with 13 felons. No thank you to Aaron and Edwin for farting every two seconds (screw these guys).

In these past three years, I've grown a lot as a competitor, a teammate, a vlogger, and a person. Starting to consistently vlog was definitely a highlight this year (hopefully mr. walker never sees them though). I'm glad we managed to have as much fun as we did (check out LASA SciO on youtube!!!), and I hope to see more uploads in the future.

It's a bittersweet feeling knowing that I will never compete again, but I'm glad it ended in the way it did. Go LASA SciO!!!
