Hoboken Dual Language Charter School is a Division B team in the NJIT region of New Jersey. HoLa has gone to the state tournament for the past six years.

School Information

Hoboken Dual Language Charter School is a K-8 bilingual charter school with about 90 students in grades 7 and 8. The Science Olympiad team is composed of 7th and 8th grade students. For invitational tournaments such as the Cornell Invitational, HoLa usually has a Team A and a Team B.


The Science Olympiad team at HoLa has two amazing coaches who always encourage us and guide us. They have helped us immensely. In addition, HoLa's science teachers share their resources and knowledge with the team.


The school's mascot is a jaguar. HoLa's mascot used to be a toucan.

Notable Awards

2017

In 2017, HoLa placed 5th in Picture This at the NJIT Regional.

2018

At the NJIT Regional, HoLa earned 1st place in Mystery Architecture, 2nd place in Battery Buggy, 3rd place in Towers, and 4th place in Road Scholar. Later that year, HoLa placed 3rd in Mystery Architecture at the New Jersey State Finals.

2019

HoLa placed 2nd in Elastic Launched Glider and 5th in both Battery Buggy and Dynamic Planet at the NJIT Regional. At the New Jersey State Finals, the team earned 3rd place in Mystery Architecture.

2020

In 2020, HoLa earned 4th place in Fossils, and 5th place in both Mousetrap Vehicle and Experimental Design at the NJIT Regional. HoLa placed 1st in Picture This, a trial event, at the New Jersey State Finals.

2021

At the New Jersey State Finals, HoLa placed 5th in Game On.

2022

In 2022, HoLa earned 4th place in Mousetrap Vehicle at the New Jersey State Finals.

2023

At the NJIT Regional, HoLa earned 2nd place in Wheeled Vehicle, 4th place in Bridge, and 5th place in Road Scholar. HoLa also earned 3rd place in Anatomy and Physiology, Wheeled Vehicle, and Write It Do It at the Cornell Invitational, along with earning the Spirit Award. Then, at the New Jersey State Finals, HoLa earned 1st place in Road Scholar, the first time HoLa placed 1st in a non-trial event at States, and 5th place in Write It Do It.

2023

At the Brown Invitational, HoLa earned 6th place in Air Trajectory, 3rd place in Anatomy and Physiology, 2nd place in Codebusters, 3rd place in Flight, 6th place in Meteorology, 3rd place in Wheeled Vehicle, and 1st place in Write It Do It. Hola also earned 3rd place in Air Trajectory, 6th place in Anatomy and Physiology, 3rd place in Fast Facts, 1st place in Flight, 6th place in Forestry, 4th place in Roller Coaster, 3rd place in Wheeled Vehicle, and 2nd place in Write It Do It at the NJIT Regional. At the Cornell Invitational, HoLa earned 4th place in Codebusters, 4th place in Flight, and 6th place in Write It Do It. Finally, at the New Jersey State Finals, HoLa earned 6th place in Air Trajectory, 5th place in Anatomy and Physiology, 3rd place in Codebusters, 1st place in Experimental Design, 2nd place in Road Scholar, 5th place in Roller Coaster, and 6th place in Write It Do It.
