Gateway High School is a Division C team located in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, a town located southwest of Pittsburgh. They compete in the Southwest Pennsylvania Regional, and most recently qualified for the 2018 Pennsylvania State Tournament.
Though originally called Gateway Senior High School, they were renamed Gateway High School in 1994, when Gateway Junior High School was renamed Gateway Middle School.
History
Gateway was the most successful high school team in western Pennsylvania during the late 1980s and early 1990s. They won three consecutive Western Regional championships from 1989 to 1991, and may have won more but results are unknown. Their best placement at the state tournament was third place in 1991.
Gateway's best placement at the state tournament in the 21st century was a 15th-place finish at the 2003 Pennsylvania State Tournament.
