Discovery High School is one of the newer programs in the Hickory Region. The team made its first appearance in the 2012-2013 school year and finished 7th place. In 2013-2014 they secured 6 gold medals and a 3rd place finish in the school's first bid to the state tournament where they finished 22nd; however, not without a handful of medals in their strongest events. The 2014-2015 year saw the team's first tournament championship behind 5 gold medals. The top two teams finished tied, but Discovery won by a tie-breaker (most gold medals).
