Colony Home of the KNIGHTS!!!!!!
We are proud to be the knights of Colony, a Division C school from Alaska. We have a brilliant team, and hope to do as well this year as last. We have won Alaska state championships 3 times between 2009 and 2012.
History
In 2009, Colony entered its first team since 2002. The small team did not expect to win state, and go to nationals, but somehow managed it. The next year at state, Colony was announced second to Eagle River High School. Later that day, the Eagle River coach announced that his calculations showed Colony to be the winner. After further analysis it was determined that the state committee had forgotten about two events, and Colony was declared winner. In 2011, Colony narrowly lost to Mat-Su Career and Technical High School. But regardless, Colony came back in 2012. They got 2nd at the Tiger invitational, and became underdog champions at state.
Coaching
Colony has an excellent pair of coaches, Mr. Gooch and Mr. Giauque. They have been running the science-o program at Colony for several years. There are also some volunteer coaches that teach students specialized subjects.
