Today is the 200th birthday of Charles Darwin and 150th anniversary of the publication of The Origin of Species!

Yay for Science!

I am celebrating it by performing artificial selection on my stores of candy.

I think it's quite amazing that two of the most important people were born on the same day in 1809, Lincoln and Darwin. There were a whole bunch of happy birthday balloons floating around the science classrooms today in honor of Darwin. The school however decided to put on an entire assembly about Lincoln because of his birthday. They didn't even mention Darwin at the assembly.

Happy b-day to Darwin. They did mention Darwin a little bit at our assembly, but I guess they don't want to pigeon off some parents who don't believe in evolution...
