Scioly Summer Study Session 2013
We are very pleased to announce scioly.org’s first annual Scioly Summer Study Session (SSSS)! It is an unofficial event open to any member of scioly.org, and is just what it sounds like--a summer study session. Here is how it works.
1. There are two ways to get involved. The first is that you write a practice test (and key) for an event tentatively scheduled for the 2013-2014 Science Olympiad season.
The second way is to upload your notes for a specific event. They must be notes of quality--at minimum 7,500 words.
2. You will submit your files to the mods via this email: summerscioly@scioly.org . In your email, please include the following:
scioly.org username
whether it is tests or notes
the event you are writing for
the file, preferably in PDF form unless it is a ppt or xls file.
3. The mods will review your test/notes and reply in an email whether it was approved or not. If it is not approved, reasons why will be included in the email.
4. If it is not approved, you can fix it and resubmit it. When emailing the mods back, please hit the "Reply to All" button. This is imperative. Mods would do well to remember this too.
5. If it is approved, you gain access to the SSSS forums and page, where you can access all the tests and notes other users have made!
6. At the end of summer, the tests and answer keys will be uploaded onto the Test Exchange. Notes will be uploaded to the wiki unless the user requests otherwise.
The SSSS will be a great way to start practicing for your events during summer! To get started writing your test, see the wiki page: http://www.scioly.org/wiki/index.php/Ho ... ctice_Test
For more information, please see this document.
If you have any further questions, please email summerscioly@scioly.org, PM mnstrviola or myself, or post on the topic below.
Note: The SSSS is not a tournament. It is not meant to be a competitive event, but an unofficial study event to practice for the upcoming Science Olympiad season.

Is this the result of the summer project we submitted forms for?
Or is that a separate entity?

This is a completely separate entity, but it's just as much fun and work, I'd say. And plus, you get to be better!

At the end of the summer, will notes also be posted or just tests and keys?

Are we to follow a set of event rules for the notes/test/key submission? If so would they be the official rules for the event?foreverphysics wrote:We are very pleased to announce scioly.org’s first annual Scioly Summer Study Session (SSSS)! Re: Scioly Summer Study Session 2013
They will be based on the most current rules available for that event if you have them. If it is an event that has never been present before (like Simple/Complex Machines), the best we can do is use our common sense and test on simple/complex machines. If someone would like to give or post a copy of the draft rules when they are available, that would be great. IF they come out, and IF we can use them, they will be used as the rules that this will be based on. Until then, use past rules if available and common sense if not.

My bad--my memory only goes back to 2009-2010...and I have never heard of the event before.

Just a friendly reminder, you must not share rules via scioly.org, please only use rules that you have.
