Junkyard Mystery Material?
Hello everyone,
What sort of object could the Junkyard Challenge judges give people to use as a mystery material? I know it could be just about anything, but what, do you all think, may realistically be given?
Just curious. Thanks.

Who cares??
This is a great year because I will beat Owen and Saad in Egg-O-Naut and the New York Jets are a playoff team this year because Brett Farve is the Best Quarterback on the Earth. 7-3. Better and better every week. The Yankees are getting C.C. Sabbathia.

Probably something that would be useful and be a functional part in the "machine."

Re: Junkyard Mystery Material?
The mystery material could also be a paper towel roll, a cloth bandana, a compact disk, a banana, or a 1 foot square of bubble wrap.
There are no limits as to what the judges might give you.

Re: Junkyard Mystery Material?
For Indiana the mysteries are:
String, 1 meter
1 quarter
Dixie Cup, 3 oz paper
Ping-pong ball
Rubber stopper, #6, no holes
Not such a mystery there. I bet some states will follow this somewhat loosely, so make sure you're prepared for them. They by no means have to stick to this list though.

Re: Junkyard Mystery Material?
No secrets here:
When I ran this event, the single biggest thing that influenced my decisions for which mystery materials to give was whether I could find enough for all the teams. I remember once I wanted to give AOL CDs as the mystery item, but I only had 45, and there were 48 teams. I wanted to do junk mail too, but you have no idea how hard it is to get fifty identical pieces of junk mail!
