When I send a message it doesn't send and goes to the outbox

Could someone help me?
I try sending a message and when I press send it goes to the outbox folder and I cannot find a way to send it.

If it's in the outbox, I think it has sent already.

When sent, a message is placed in your outbox, where it will remain until it is read by the recipient, whereupon it will be moved to your sent folder. While it is in the outbox, you are able to delete it, and edit it for a short period of time after you send it.
