You actually shouldn't do this - the rules are copyrighted for a reason.XJcwolfyX wrote:This is a thread to talk about the 2012 Rules for Science Olympiad Division B.

I think this is a discussion thread, not a tell-rules-to-people thread.

Hunh?? How does the copyright of the rules prevent you from talking about them or providing your opinion on them? This whole forum does that.

This is for Division C, but:
I LOVE THIS YEAR'S RULES FOR THE BUILDING EVENTS! ESPECIALLY HELICOPTERS AND GRAVITY VEHICLE.

It is not Copyrighted to talk about it. If I were to post the rules here, then, yes it would be against the copyright law.

Re: What Do You Think Of The 2012 Rules?
First of all, most people will want to talk about C events.
I have mixed feelings about the Forestry rules. I think the allowed resources are good, but I dislike the new restrictions on test format. For example, ID questions are required to ask for the scientific (binomial) name of the specimen. Although these changes make the competition more predictable, it also limits the creativity allowed while writing tests. I enjoyed seeing what different people would come up with in regard to test design.
Although I probably won't do it, I appreciate the fact that they removed the instrument restrictions in Sounds of Music. I'd love to see some of the string instruments that people build.
I appreciate the clarification in the Microbe rules, even though I wish they would remove the disease list.
The Bottle Rocket 1 liter limit is interesting...I don't have much to say on it, but it will certainly allow for different designs.
