Starting Science Olympiad

Hey guys, im an new IB student for those of you who dont know what that is its an academy for students who want an itellectual challenge.
My school is brand new this year and we only have 9th graders at our school. My friend and i are starting a science olympiad team ran by students. I would be so greatful to anyone who could help point us in the right direction. I was also hoping for a list of the events for this year. If anyone could help that would be soo awesome of you! If you could post the info here or message me that would be great!

We aren't sure how many people are interested, but having captians for each part is a really cool idea!

The number of people on a team depends on what state your from. In most states you can have as many people on the team as you want but only 15 can compete in the regular events, the rest do alternate events. Some states do trial events for alternate events and other states, like mine, do every single event as a alternate event. We can have 30 people on my team.. 15 regulars and 15 alternates, and still have everyone do at least 2 events. If your state only does like 5 trial events for alternate events you'll have to limit the number of alternates so they all get to participate. A team of 30 becomes very hectic though, especially with tons of 5th graders running around. Since your in a all 9th grade school, which by the way is wicked cool, you shouldnt have that problem. By no means do you NEED to have over 15. You can still compete with under 15 members. Sorry if that made no sense at all, my brain isnt working right today Good luck with your schools first year of SO. You'll love it!!

Well only 15 on a team can compete and you can have two teams from one school, but I would take as many as are interested then have tryouts to narrow it down if neccessary. Oh and by the way I'm in IB too, go IB nerds.

Well we have three teams at our school, an A, B, and C team because we have a lot of people. Our C team won't be able to do as much as the A and B teams, like if we don't have enough room on the bus to one of the tournaments cuz sometimes we share with Menomonie, the C team won't come with. And we are the only school in Wisconsin who registered a C team this year.

i would suggest trying to compete with a high school team or middle school team in the area, because it will increase your chances of being competitive, and it will be easier for you to find people to join, unlike a 9th grade campus

Wait but dont you have to actually be from the high school to compete on the team? Since he's in 9th grade he cant compete in div B anyway.
