Studio Wizardry: The Game

Post by Jastrub »

Hello everybody;

I thought I'd start up one of the many virtual games I have done with my friends over the years. This one is called Studio Wizardry. In this game, you will become the manager of a small record label. Every day, I will post a description of a completely fabricated band on this thread. You, as the manager, may choose to audition them and/or sign them, but be quick, for other labels might snatch them up first. Once you have signed a band, you can book them gigs, rent them out studios, buy them equipment, advertise their merchandise and peddle them to fame and fortune! Eventually, you will have the opportunity to "buy out" other companies by taking market share and using your power and influence to buy their stocks and marginalize their power. Eventually, only one will reign supreme as the premier record label in Scioly City. So, who's in

That was double posted, in case you didn't catch that.

It's an interesting premise that would probably do better as a CD-ROM game or a game based on and for an individual gamer, rather than a forum style game. I can't deny that you DO come up with good ideas, but to try them out here seems to be folly as you don't have a good enough reputation to get the necessary players that such games require for success. In addition, timing is key, and we already have three posting games going on and a fourth is on tap for when one is done. This game appears to be time-consuming, and with invites just around the corner (besides regular school work) it just doesn't seem like many people will want to participate in yet another game.

Oh, just give it a try, Z. It actually worked very well (and kept my friends from having time to talk to me) last year.

Zyzzyva, I understand your worry, but believe me. This game is very fun, and it isn't that time consuming. So long as you can devote about 2 minutes a day to it, you have the full potential to be totally involved. Plus, I know it seems like it wouldn't work so well as a forum game, but that is precisely why I am only allowing 6 people to play. I will add bots if neccesary but I need at least 4 real players in order to start. Are you in?

I'm sorry, but this game doesn't sound like it would fit well for a forum. You haven't been here for long at all, so you have little reptutation for us to base off of, and there are a lot of other posting games going on right now. I am currently putting my game on hold until one of them stops, and it would be nice if you could do the same. Three posting games is already very time consuming, and those "2 to 3 minutes a day" that each takes up really adds up.

I personally think that it sounds like a good idea, but, like brobo, I wouldn't want to keep track of four different games at once. It sounds interesting though, I don't think it is a bad idea, even if it doesn't work out during gameplay.

I'd play, but unfortunately I'm giving up on posting games.

However guys, did you have fun during Hunger Games? Yes? Thought so. But remember, from a purely technical and efficiency standpoint, that game failed.

Who cares how well the game goes, so long as you have fun with it.
