Heck Yes  :D :geek: :ugeek: It's suppose to be good viewing on the west coast and that is exactly where I am. I have a place, star charts, a chair and everything set up except for a telescope . Although no big deal It's not as big a loss as if I was going star gazing as I often do. The only other problem is I live in a highly populated area so I can't get out of the lights very well to see them in there full glory but I hope I will still see quite the show. Fingers crossed for a show for the ages. :D The moons at a 1/4 phase here but luckily Persied rises in the opposite direction and the moon sets at 2 am. :ugeek:

I'm in the eastern US...so it isn't as favorable, but I hope to see a decent show.

I'm in a suburban area...it's somewhat lit, but not too bad. I can see to about magnitude 4.0 or so, so it's not that bad. Nothing like being in the country for these types of things though!

I can sit outside for hours and just look at satellites.

I'll be out there!! I'm not quite sure what the weather over here is going to be like.. I'm right near Boston and Reading so there will be a lot of light pollution :x Plus theres the moon but i can wait for that to set. I dont really have that great of a view of the sky. The eastern sky is obstructed by houses, the southern sky is covered with trees, the western sky is completely covered in trees and the northern side is obstructed by houses and trees. All i have is the zenith area :x I really got to get out of this area when i want to look at the sky. I cant even see jupiter because the trees are blocking it :x I also missed Saturn, Mars, and Regulus getting close together thanks to trees :x Anyway if i can find a way to get on the roof of my house i'll have a better view of the eastern sky..

what time should i go out?

i'm right in the middle, on the gulf coast in TX, so my main problem will be that there are a lot of trees in the area so i have to find somewhere to watch from, and i'm in a suburban town, so there will be lots of light

well I think you should go out around 3am because by then the moon will have defintely set and Persied should be nearly directly over head and at 4 it reaches the Zenith so it should get better as you watch.

I saw 3 last year, but I got attacked by mosquitoes, so I had to turn it in. I'll probably watch it again this year and make a wish or two hopefully.

I didnt see any last year!! I turned my head the ONE TIME a meteor passed over :x You were like "did you see that!!?" and i was like "NO, i turned my head for just a second" If i remember correctly wasn't it unusually cold last year? I remember sitting on my deck FREEZING. Anyway, i'm hoping to see at least a few this year.

One of the meteors made a HUGE streak last night and it was really pretty. It was really cold that night, I had to change to jeans and a sweatshirt, to not only keep me warm but to protect me from those stupid mosquitoes. I was like, ok, I'm facing this way, "WHOA !!! Did you see that one?!??!?!" Then you're like " NO!!!!! I missed it." Then of course I felt bad inside while I secretly laughed my head off on my lawn. They came up pretty often too, like every 10 -20 min. of each other.
