Spacerails commercial kit

Post by SPP SciO »

Does anyone have experience with Spacerails tracks? We’ve seen a number of roller coasters that appear to use them, but not sure how successful they’ve been.

My students have tried a number of track materials this year, and it seems like there’s an inverse correlation between how easy the material is to work with - cutting and shaping, attaching, repositioning - and how durable and consistent the tracks are. So far the best bet has been pipe insulation and styrofoam cups, with a lot of balsa struts, Velcro strips and mounting tape. I’m wondering if spacerails, with its pre-fab adjustable connections, would be easier. Is it simple to cut, flexible, and can jumps be made from it? Would like to hear anyone’s personal experience.

last year we used a piece of 1" drywall trim. this works on low speed sections but not if it gets fast.
