Google Sketchup
How many of you all use Google sketchup? I have the Sketchyphysics plugin and am currently working on adding my 2007 Mission Possible to it. Do any of you have your building events in long lasting digital form that you would like to share?

Re: Google Sketchup
I do have a very basic sketchup of my Traj devices from the past two years.

Re: Google Sketchup
Have never used it but I may see what it does. I was under the impression that it was more for architecture and buildings that could then be imported into Google Earth - but maybe it's capable of more?
I'm proficient in CAD software - namely AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor. Even so, it's never seemed practical to use it to design an event.

Re: Google Sketchup
Yes, that is right, it was designed for architecture. But I think it was some Google interns who made sketchy physics, which allows for moving parts. And no, I don't think it is necessarily a great tool for designing an event, so far I've just used it for a type of digital storing for my event. My brother works with autoCAD, and got the demo for me to look at, but it looked pretty complicated, for just drawing in 3D. Sketchup isn't an art form as much as a rough draft place, so you can give people the basic idea.Have never used it but I may see what it does. Right now though, I am stuck on figuring out how to make a working screw in sketchup...
Edit: I finally got a rough version of my MP up. You can find it here: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/ ... revstart=0 or just search for "huskarl" in the warehouse, and that is the only one.

Re: Google Sketchup
We used it in our Advanced DDP class for a local competition to design a park pavillion/bird watching area but I've never thought of designing any building plans in it. If we need plans I use AutoCAD, I had to do it for our Elevated Bridge team because neither of them have any DDP experience.
