Backsliders and creating stability

I have been struggling lately with creating stability with my rocket and finding certain objects to add weight to make a useful backslider. My backslider has been my main source of stability because of how top heavy the rocket usually tends to be. So i was initially planning on using metal to create a backslider, but metal is allowed on NO parts if the rocket and since then ive been struggling with finding effective materials. So basically what im asking is what would you suggest using to make an effective backslider, that helps with creating stability that would keep the rocket in the air longer?

You can use mylar like this to make the nosecone
