Actually at the bottom of the page where it shows related subjects, there has some very helpful links for in depth information that might not be in a normal textbook (ie algae blooms, trophic levels etc...)

Yes. You must know how to do the other tests and how to read the results, but in competition you will only do Salinity testing.

My question is, the is hardly anywhere on earth that has 10% salt concentrations (except maybe the dead sea) why do we need to test in such high concentrations?
