Actually at the bottom of the page where it shows related subjects, there has some very helpful links for in depth information that might not be in a normal textbook (ie algae blooms, trophic levels etc...)chalker wrote:quizbowl wrote:Is anyone else having trouble finding information about sediment pollution?
This is way outside my knowledge base, but perhaps this will help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siltation

most likely because we are going to be testing water for its salinity and pollution level, so the law requires goggles as a safety precaution, because while it may only be water, its polluted so it can damage your eyes.Fossil Freak 25 wrote:Does anybody know why we have to wear goggles in WQ?
only two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity, though I'm not sure about the former.

Yes. You must know how to do the other tests and how to read the results, but in competition you will only do Salinity testing.cngu23 wrote:Aren't we only testing the salinity concentrations?nuclear reactor wrote:most likely because we are going to be testing water for its salinity and pollution level, so the law requires goggles as a safety precaution, because while it may only be water, its polluted so it can damage your eyes.Fossil Freak 25 wrote:Does anybody know why we have to wear goggles in WQ?

Yeah that's what I though.
So what do the rules mean by aquatic chemistry?

My question is, the is hardly anywhere on earth that has 10% salt concentrations (except maybe the dead sea) why do we need to test in such high concentrations?

Does anyone have any links to any of the extremely old Water Quality tests that are out there?
