Look, just because you are apparently unable to mount a defense is no reason to get angry. Woe be it for me to say what books you are and are not allowed to like, but to put on the guise that what you are reading is worthwhile is an invitation for challenge. As long as you understand that reading Harry Potter, no matter how much you like it, is still mental pollution, my work here is done.

I wasn't mad. Way to go. You just proved to me that you are nothing more than an immature poser. Congratulations.

you say we're spreading false information, but you could be too. you say popularity doesn't mean a book's good, but right after that you say whoever has sold more book than J. k. Rowling. you can say your opinion of what your favorite books are, and obviously you "liked" them, we can say what we "like" too, and it was Harry Potter books. and also note, harry potter series consists of seven books, while goosebumps consists of over hundreds. we read for fun, not always for philosphy.(i'm not saying philosphy is bad, i read plenty of those too.)

Apparently what I posted was lost on you. I was showing that just because someone sells a lot of books doesn't mean they are good. Danielle Steele is NOT a good author, yet she sells more books than Rowling. If you are going to accept the quality through popularity argument, then you have to admit that Danielle Steele is a better author than Rowling. Or, you could recognize that simply because something is popular doesn't mean it is good. I understand that rather simply arguments might just be over your head, but if you go back and read it a could more times you just might see my point.

As for "liking" stuff, I am fully aware that that is an individual preference. However, quality is a much more objective measurement built on the back of literary analysis. I can back up the quality of the books that I "like" by explaining why they are also "good". I just want to make sure that people that come here are not influenced into believing that the Harry Potter series is good simply because it is well liked.

Lol! What am I "posing" as? Someone who has done a lot of reading and knows a thing or two about it?

As for "immature", I believe that YOU are the one that claimed to like reading Harry Potter.

i don't accept the popularity theory, but you just listed the popularity of books right after you said popularity doesn't matter. as for influencing, aren't you also trying to influence people too, to influenced people to like the books you favor?
(i hope this post is somewhat on topic)

Wikipedia entry on Wraeththu wrote:One additional notable characteristic of Wraeththu is their need for regular hermaphrodite sex, known among Wraeththu as aruna. Hara who are deprived of aruna suffer, as their bodies require exchange of essential life essences in order to run properly. Wraeththu even use aruna in magic, performing the ritual of sex magic, grissecon, in which aruna is used to work great acts of healing or the creation of magical weapons.
Just ask yourself: Is this ridiculous? It could be the best written book in the world, but can you really take something seriously that has "hermaphrodite sex magic"?
