Re: Favorite Book
Foucault's Pendulum - Umberto Eco
Gravity's Rainbow - Thomas Pynchon
Wind-up Bird Chronicles - Haruki Murakami
Pretty much anything by David Sedaris
Infinite Jest - David Foster Wallace
Lolita - Vladimir Nabokov
On the Road - Jack Kerouac
There are lots of others, but there are at least some highlights. It saddens me that a lot of the high school "intelligencia" believe that they are required to like SciFi/Fantasy. Let me assure you that is simply not true. Most SciFi/Fantasy is terrible and you are pigeon holing yourself into mediocre literature if you go down that path. Good books aren't just for English nerds.

Re: Favorite Book
i know there is that stereotype, but i actually prefer the scifi/fantasy over other books, and there are some pretty good titles, you just have to look for them

Re: Favorite Book
Wow, too many. I personally LOVE fantasy, and some scifi, but it is something I have always loved. Let's see how many of my favorite authors I can remember ( not in any order):
Tamora Pierce ( by far #1)
Garth Nix
Clare B. Dunkle
Diana Wynn Jones
Marianne Curley
JK Rowling
Diane Duane
I am sure there are more, I just can't think of them off the top of my head.

Re: Favorite Book
Harry Potter
The Circle of Magic Quartets- Tamora Pierce
Dragonlance series- Margaret Weis
Foundation series- Asimov
Atlas Shrugged- Ayn Rand ( read it, its 1200 pages may be a little daunting but it was excellent)
Merlin series- TA Barron
Heartlight trilogy- TA Barron
As you can see, I'm also a huge fan of sci-fi/fantasy.
