I do not think that they could really change Compute This much. It would be like changing the rules of WIDI.

Next year I'm most likely officially practicing Ecology, Herpetology, Environmental Chem, Remote Sensing, Fossils, and Cell Bio. But I'll probably also unofficially do Tech Trek, Chem Lab, and Dynamic Planet if they need someone to fill in.

I'm disappointed because this year is my last year in division B and the high school that i'm going to next year doesnt have Science Olympiad. I might start a scioly club but i'd be a lot of work plus i'd have to find a coach

y wouldn't you start one

all u need is a teacher to do paperwork and will spend the time at competitions, students, parents, and other teachers can do most of the event stuff

or u could have a parent run it with the school's permission

is anyone else going to be moving up with you?

and i would suggest recruiting people out of the AP/honors/IB/whatever higher level classes you have, go ask the teachers who's good at what to find more team members, and look for the quiet kids in those classes that noone notices, they tend to do well, and go to tech classes and such to find builders, but i wouldn't stop because starting a team is hard, most things in life are hard, and who knows, if enough people from the middle school come with you, you could do well

the other thing is asking the middle school coach if they'll act as coach for the high school, that way you have an experienced coach.

very nicely put. i'll give it a try. I'm going into 9th grade this year but i will be competing on the div b team again. do you think i should start the highschool team this year and just not compete on it but help out and run it or do you think i should wait until 10th grade when i will be able to compete? I think it would be better to start it once school starts that way everyone will become familiar with the events for next year.

i think u should wait until ur actually going to be on it, just because that should make it a little easier to start if whoever's going to coach knows that they'll have a couple people

I do pretty much any event so I'll be doing whatever I'm needed on because I'll be the senior member of my team next year and ecology, disease, fossils, trajectory, road scholar, and pentathalon.

I don't see why you guys like Compute This so much :/ I did it once and the concept of the event just seems stupid to me.

Yeah, its funny cause in my school, everyone dreaded the event. We had to make 2 kids do it, no one wanted to do it at all.
