On your video it looks like the hammer hits wood that is behind the scrambler. Is that really what happens or am I mistaken?

That is correct. Adding the wood helped it go straighter and also helped alignment.

I used a hammer launcher last year and constantly had problems with alignment and the scrambler kept going off the track. We fixed it kind of but it always was a little off. I'm thinking of using a pulley launcher this year but that wood you used seems like a good idea.

Yeah...alignment was still a problem. Kinda the curse of the hammer launcher I guess...probably would have been better if my frame had been more rigid. My pulley launchers were never as fast though. Just trade-offs, I guess.

I want to use the hammer launcher because of speed but with the new rule of measuring from the center of the wall, the hammer launcher would cause problems. If only I could figure out how to make a spring launcher.

I built a spring launcher back when I was doing this event. My design was a little complicated, although surprisingly foolproof... I don't feel like explaining it. Instead, I could explain how nickfastswim's design worked: his design is simpler, and he assured me that it worked well. There are also pictures of it on the gallery, so you could see a real life example of its construction.

I'll work on this tomorrow and post a post and diagrams... maybe on the wiki.

That would be great if you could do that.

yea that would be great, i don't get it at all it seems like there's a piece of metal under the car and that the string is starting in the front instead of the back.

if you use the wingnut method is it supposed to swever to the right or left when it stops? Thats what keeps happening. :( It's pretty bad too. Any advice to fix that?
