Re: Scioly Assassination 77: Coup d'état
I'm feeling accusation happy again. I accuse paleonaps of being the assassinator because after I thought about what mingtian said, naps is exactly the kind of person that would get enraged by luck, but not necessarily be a jerk about it. He also seems like someone who would like to screw with the rules. and y'know I felt like accusing someone for no good reason.

This is either a very good sign, or that paleonaps was a horrible accusation... so much so that it was laughable.harryk wrote:![]()

Re: Scioly Assassination 77: Coup d'état
foreverphysics dropped the letter in a mailbox on a deserted streetcorner. I hid in an alley until she was in striking distance.
My bowie knife made short work of her femoral artery. She lay on the sidewalk, screaming as the life drained from her body. fmtiger124 was within earshot, and rushed to investigate.
"paleonaps, STOP!"
I had never been fast, and he reached me in an instant. I drew my revolver to shoot him, but he disarmed me and pummeled my face with the but of the gun, disfiguring my handsome features into a bloody pulp. He brought it down sharply on my sternum, which cracked with the impact.
He pulled out a phone and dialed the police. Soon, I was being brought to an asylum, and he was victorious.
foreverphysics couldn't be saved. He stayed by her side, kneeling, until she passed over.
fmtiger, you are correct. I am paleonaps, and I will now explain all of the clues:
Clue Burst #1
1. wyk2SEcq_jF- just a little different. The underscore and capitalization stay. I am still surprised that you didn't answer this correctly. It's only a shift by one. It should become vxj1RDbp_iE, and that is the end of the URL of a YouTube video that has a subtitle about pet cobras in the beginning. Thus, ophiophagus.
2. You are a cat. You are not Scottish, and neither was our mother! Well, I answered this to avert suspicion. I correctly solved it too. Surprising, isn't it? IT was aubrey048
3. My victim is worshipped. I could sell their body parts for lots of money. After all, they ARE money… The cocoa bean was used as currency in the Aztec empire. Thus, Kokonilly.
4. He may be the most revered filmmaker of all time. And when you think about it, no one has a name like him. This will point you in the right direction. This was purposefully vague. Steven Spielberg is widely regarded to be the most talented filmmaker of the present day. Spielberg rhymes with Stroudsburg, and starts with the same letter. Thus, EASTstroudsburg13.
5. My last victim is like the man who made the “anatomical” {If you get my drift} movie monster. Or maybe it’s best to compare him to the deadliest warrior. They are the same, anyway. Just use your kindergarten-taught linguistic skills. This was one of my favorite clues ever. I think I first thought it up during my first game. The "anatomical" part was because I didn't want to write "phallic" on the forum unless absolutely necessary. That referred to the Alien (or Xenomorph, if you prefer) and its creator, H. R. Geiger. Deadliest Warrior is a show on Spike TV that is hosted by Max Geiger. Your kindergarten-taught linguistic skill? Rhyming. And what rhymes with Geiger? Tiger.
Clue Burst #2
1. He ruins his nick. So nice and pretty, perfectly legible…and then BAM! right in the face. This clue was made because harryk asked me to kill him. The reasoning here was that harryk is a word that you can read, until the "K".
2. Both old and new, this victim is perfectly balanced. I like that. This referred to astronomy. Astronomy has been practiced since ancient times, but has also had significant modernization. This was to kill off space scientist, because I had other plans on how to kill Alpha.
3. They’re getting shortchanged. This was to kill Z. I really wanted him dead, so I made a really vague clue. 98 is two cents short of a dollar. (I know, it's a terrible clue, but I ran out of clues to target him in my first game. He was half of the clues I gave.)
4. I was not planning on killing them. I guess you could say it was murder in the 2nd degree. You solved this. A quadratic function is a second-degree function.
5. This accent {or dialect, I won’t be picky} almost made Joseph incomprehensible. I didn’t understand him until I saw the solution to the clue.
Again, a cheap clue to kill someone important. This referred to Joseph in Wuthering Heights, who has a very strong Yorkshire accent. If you read about this accent on Wikipedia, it says that a good movie to hear this accent in is Kes, a movie about a boy and his pet Kestrel. Sorry, amerikestrel.
And finally, the ID clue. J.J. Abrams's first success was the show ALIAS. Balista was a Roman general, who also went by Callistus. Callistus is the middle name of the paleontologist I met and have been in contact with. Maybe if anyone had responded to my posts about it in YDRC, you would have known.
This game was primarily to vent frustration about the changing staff on the forum. I don't like change, I don't know why. Every time someone ranks up on the site, I get angry. It's not disrespect. I am happy for everyone. It's just hard to adjust to the changing colors of usernames. I drew my inspiration for the rules from DS's game, and an idea I had. "What if we had to solve more than one clue at once?" I thought. So this was something of an experiment for me.
One final remark: quadratic, you show signs of becoming a good officer. Lay off the spam and live up to your potential. You deserve more respect.
And finally, fmtiger124, pm me your choice for the next sassy.

BWhat do they all have the same of?
AThe Lady died with him but was not born until long after, in 1954.
Correction: A + B + [space] + [Two letters, both uppercase]
If the Lady were real, she would not have died 362 years before she was born.

Oh darn, I forgot to yell at you for not releasing clue solutions right after the burst.Assassinator wrote:foreverphysics dropped the letter in a mailbox on a deserted streetcorner. I hid in an alley until she was in striking distance.

No I'm really serious, I think it should be a rule that clues need to be revealed during the game, not at the end.
And I do like the simpler clues and the idea of a clue burst, but I haven't even read the 2nd burst and there have already been 2 really bad clues in the first burst. This is exactly why this rule should be implemented, cause you got away with murder (literally!

Re: Scioly Assassination 77: Coup d'état
Three things:
1. naps..care to give us the exact youtube link, i just tried shifts of both 1 and 25 plugged them into youtube and neither worked
2. Clue burst 2 clue 2 is downright awful
3. I'm kind of dissapointed by the lack of a reaction to me making it obvious i was accusing for no reason other than I felt like it

EDIT:
alright so more than three things, but my only real complaint about the clue burst is the fact that because you're trying to come up with so many clues at once, it ends up prone to having 1-2 pretty bad clues within each burst.

I think clues should be released at the end of the game, but I do like the shorter clues, however if I were actually trying to sovle them, I would've had no idea where to startRandomPerson wrote: Oh darn, I forgot to yell at you for not releasing clue solutions right after the burst.

I just searched the cleartext in a Google search.
Random, I am sorry that my clues were terrible. Could you please explain how to make them better?
Also, if anyone wants to add clue bursts to the rules, let's do it.

Editing the post as we speak. Also, I'm not advocating bursts to be clear...Assassinator wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxj1RDbp_iE
