Re: Favorite Book
In Yanjing? I believe it was Melting Stones- from Evvy's point of view. It came out originally as an audio book only, but I believe it is out as a book now, I am not sure. I haven't seen it around anywhere. You can at least hear it, but it is something to look up to see if it is in hardcopy yet.

Re: Favorite Book
Yeah, that's the one. Ugh, i hate audio books. Just hearing the voice messes up my imagination. That's why I hate movies based on books: it ruins my ideal picture of the characters. And when I read Harry Potter, I picture them as being non-british. Makes it easier to read that way

Re: Favorite Book
I know what you mean. Her characters tend to be one-dimensional, and she basically stole half of the names from the book "Larry Potter". And the other half is from latin. Still, the plot is interesting enough.

Re: Favorite Book
I know what you mean being an Astronomy nerd I knew exactly were she got Sirius Black from (Sirius=the dog star and Sirius is an Animagus who turns into a dog) Then when I saw Bellatrix I also recognized that as a star in Orion. It was kind of neat with the symbolism and kind of funny (Considering Sirius is a very bright ,the brightest in the night sky, and she gave the Character a last name of black which the star definately is not black.)gneissisnice wrote:I know what you mean. Re: Favorite Book
If you noticed the Black family tree, I think all of them are named after stars. Regulus is a star, right? Also, even minor characters have latin names (Sanguini the vampire=latin for blood), as do all of her spells.

Re: Favorite Book
Yeah i noticed that too but Sirius is the one I use as an example because it has multiple meanings and funny things about it.gneissisnice wrote:If you noticed the Black family tree, I think all of them are named after stars. Re: Favorite Book

Re: Favorite Book
Still, it makes you feel special when youre like "Ha i understand that" and nonlatin people are like "Huh?"
Like when we went to see My Big Fat Greek Wedding, my dad was cracking up at the parts when they spoke Greek before everyone else, because he actually understands it. We had to wait for the subtitles.
