I felt the same way with the book "Godless".

It was fairly entertaining for most of the way through, but I wasnt happy with the way it ended and the message it gave.

I had to read The Outsiders for school before and I actually thought it was pretty good compared to some of the other books we had read that year.
Just read Rip Van Winkle in school not really a book more of a story but it was still pretty bad.

The Outsiders was a horrible horrible book.
I thought it was okay. The grammar (street smarts!) and the predictable plot was enough to make it bad. Personally I think the movie was worse than the book (screw C. Thomas Howell. He was a big teen star like Zac Efron. Now has barely a dead career. Shows you the shelf life of "He's sooooooooo hot")

Naps, I never wanna hear you say "He's sooooooooo hot" ever again. I dont care what context it's in. Just no.

Anyway, it was a terrible book. Lame two-dimensional characters, boring plot, uninteresting writing...bleh.

Well, you have to give her credit. She was only 16 and living in Oklahoma when she wrote it. She wanted to accurately portray a real issue, but the approach was horrid. The characters should have had an actual back story, and there should be less '60's street slang. In fact, no street slang from any period.

It's Waiting For Godot. And I never read it, but I hear it's sorta an acquired taste, not for everyone.

But on the topic of horrible books, I'm gonna go with Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind. It was ridiculously long, the characters had possibly the most two-dimensional and stale characterization in anything I have ever read, the plot was generic and predictable, the writing was awful, the characters were unlikable, and the book was very preachy at times.

Also, Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison. One of the worst books I have ever read, had to read it for AP Lit in 12th grade. I found myself despising every single character in the book. There was not one character that I actually liked and sympathized with. The writing was terrible, the theme of race was extremely blunt and the author hit you over the head with it pretty much every other page, and the ending was just awful.

Twilight series for sure - I persevered after Twilight, thinking it would get better. Unfortunately, New Moon was horrific.
The Inheritance Trilogy - very badly written. I read the first two books, like I did with Twilight. The only way I could see you liking it is 1) the appeal of a kid writing it (after the first book, though, that excuse goes away), and 2) if you have never read LoTR or seen Star Wars.

EDIT: Great Expectations is up (or down) there too. Goodness gracious, there was a whole half page about how Mrs. Joe slices bread.
Also, a Series of Unfortunate Events. Everyone thinks I'm insane for despising those books (I loved them when I was 8!), but there you go. They're actually terrible, now that I go back and look at them.
