Re: SAT Scores?
Actually, CollegeBoard has a new policy for SAT I/II reporting: http://professionals.collegeboard.com/t ... res/policy
I wasn't able to take advantage of this when applying to uni, but I believe the people taking SATs beginning last year can. I'm not entirely sure if unis will want you to send scores all exams you've taken. If they do, I'm not sure if it is enforceable—that is, if College Board will send them a report containing no record of scores you choose to omit, or if the score report also contains record of the exam taken but no score.
Either way, I find this new policy to be pretty disturbing, what with grade inflation being such a big problem with all the SATs as is. A 2400 on the SAT or 800 on a Subject Test doesn't really mean much already, and this just gives people the opportunity to take the exams as many times as they wish—given that they can afford to. And that's the real motive here: more exams means more exam fees. Treacherous, isn't it?

That doesn't matter.sciolykid101 wrote:But its an SAT that was taken in 9th grade. Isn't that considered to be "middle school"?andrewwski wrote:Yeah, all the SAT's that you took show up on the same score report.
I believe the ACT is different, you send individual test scores.
Colleges tend to look at only the highest score though, some will combine the highest score on sections from different test dates as well.
And where the heck is 9th grade middle school? Nowhere that I've ever heard of...
Although this scoring policy kind of negates any of that.
If the SAT actually was a measure of anything important, I would be concerned. But I think it's a shame that so much importance is already put on the tests, which don't really measure anything. I see people with great SAT scores that aren't making it in college, and people with lower scores that are thriving. Work ethic is more important than anything else.
Re: SAT Scores?
So I took the PSATs for the first time this year and didn't study so that I could use it as a diagnostic test. I was 59 for critical reading, 64 for math, and 63 for Writing Skills. The thing that annoyed me about Writing Skills was that I got all the grammar stuff right, but did poorly on the stylistic questions, which seemed unfair to include in the test.
Also, are the cutoffs still enforced? In my school there were 4 juniors who scored over 200, (The Junior class has 75 or so students) with scores of 205, 205, 209, and 220 (something like that) but they all qualified. I thought that they all would not because I live in NJ, one of the hardest states to qualify in.

Re: SAT Scores?
Meh, I wish I knew my PSAT scores. We're getting them in two weeks.
SAT from last month:
Reading - 730
Math - 730
Writing 720 (8 on essay)
Oh, I am so going to retake this. And probably actually prepare for it at least a little bit.
