Re: Feedback
lol, just click the link, type in a username (it will remember it, i think.. does for me) and you're set. it would be kinda pointless to have a separate chatbox on the site

Re: Feedback
Actually, the AJAX chat and Java chat are both coded to use your forum name. There's no remembering involved.

Re: Feedback
The IRC clients make it much easier to regulate users from an administrative standpoint.Pleiades wrote:What do you think about adding a Cbox to the page? I have one on my forum and I really like it. All it is is a chat that goes at the bottom of the page and you can chat while you are still on the forum reading threads and such instead of going to a whole other page to chat.
Though it may decrease user access somewhat, not having a chatbox also keeps it from becoming a living Three Word Story. Chatboxes are often just spammed with short, meaningless comments.

Re: Feedback
This is similar to what was happening on the old forum. Sometimes it doesnt show new posts. It says "Last post by: xyz" but when you click the link to the forum and go to the last page, that's not the case. You have to change the URL to viewtopic.php?f=21&t=22&start=30, start=30 being the key here. it tells it to start at the 30th post, which in that case was the last one and you would see it fine. When it happend to me, I had to do start=20 and it showed up. The page also said Page 2 of 1, which was kind of odd (it was the first post on the second page).

Re: Feedback
I knocked the posts per page back down to what I remembered as default, so we'll see if that helps.

Re: Feedback
Yes, I can modify that.
Send me a PM or make a post here with the list of events you want to include...I'll raise the limit and add them to the poll.

Re: Feedback
I have a question. Where should one put a thread that is generally about science olympiad but doesn't really fit into any of the categories present? Say, for example, I wanted to start a thread about recruiting for one's SO team. That isn't about any event and it's not about a tournament, so it doesn't fit into any of those forums, but it isn't exactly General Chat since it's still about SO. Where would a thread like that go?
Thanks!
Thanks!
