I TOTALLY agree. Orchestra these days are sooooooooo so boring. Band is pretty awesome these days. We get all the good loud songs. Unlike orchestra.

good loud songs? wow......one of the greatest things about music is its ablilty to be diverse, orchestras can cover all aspects of this with great sucess. Band has a hard time covering being quiet and playing fast, two key aspects to playing well (not to mention band insturments don't have nearly as much of a range as orchestra insturments do which I suppose is why band has more instruments). Just because its loud, doens't make it good, in fact things being loud often makes them sound worse, you hear mistakes really easily.

I've been playing violin for 8 years and I play Violin I in my school orchestra.

The obligatory music joke:

Do you know how they determine who plays each instrument in an orchestra?
-If you're awesome, you play strings.
-If you're full of hot air, you play woodwinds or brass.
-If you're not either of those things, they give you two wooden sticks, put you in the back, and call you a percussionist.
-If you're too dumb to hang on to both sticks, they put you in the front and call you a conductor!

Although obviously people either like band or orchestra better, there is one thing that someone who plays a string instrument misses out on: Jazz band. Being in band (marching and symphonic later in the year), an out of school orchestra, and jazz band, jazz band is probably the most fun. This is closely followed by marching band, and strings can't be in that either.
